Al Pickering
Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Pickering is a results-driven professional with over 30 years of direct and related experience, education, and training in IT and Signals Intelligence (SIGINT).  In 2002, after 20 years of honorable service, Mr. Pickering retired from the Marine Corps.  During his three decades of service to the Intelligence Community, Mr. Pickering has provided a wide range of SIGINT and IT services including network architecture, design, and administration, enterprise management, enterprise security, penetration testing, and instructional methods and program management to DoD and federal government customers.

Mr. Pickering earned his Bachelor degree in Computer Science and a graduate certificate in Information Assurance (IA) from the University of Maryland, an NSA designated National Center of Academic Excellence in IA Education.  In addition, he is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP).  He is a current member of AFCEA.

Chad Michael
President

Mr. Michael has over 20 years’ experience working with the DoD.  Mr. Michael has concentrated his experience in the field of Network and Cyber Security.  During his career, Mr. Michael has earned advanced certifications for and supports seven of the leading application and proxy based firewalls, making him a leading firewall technical expert.   Mr. Michael began his career in 1990 as a government consultant.  He worked nights and attended school during the day where he earned a degree in Information Technology.   After seven years as a government employee, he became a consultant with Booz Allen & Hamilton, The Titan Corporation, and then several small businesses, but continued to support the DoD. Over the years, he has proven his ability to manage, plan, and implement projects from conception to completion.  In addition to his considerable network and cyber security experience, Mr. Michael has extensive knowledge of enterprise, project and network operations management, network engineering, system migration and deployment, which enables him to provide comprehensive security solutions to his customers.

Melissa McCoy
Chief Technology Officer

Ms. McCoy is a security professional with 25 years of security and information assurance experience.  She has worked with a wide variety of security disciplines including network security, host and application security, security policy development, operations, security certification /compliance and architecture/design. Ms. McCoy’s background is primarily in commercial IT environments, with recent years spent assisting the intelligence community. She was responsible for her former employer becoming ISO 27001 /BS779 certified for seven consecutive years.  Ms. McCoy was a key person in developing and maintaining an enterprise security program for a major financial services company.

Ms. McCoy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Penn State University and her Masters in Information Technology from George Washington University. She is a Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) and an Information Systems Security Architecture Professional (ISSAP).

Ms. McCoy is a member of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) and ISC2 and participated with the CISO Executive Network in her past commercial functions.  She is a current member of AFCEA.

Tracey Michael
Director, Learning Solutions

Kaizen’s lead learning professional has over 15 years of experience in the field of Instructional Systems Design.  She has extensive practice and training in every aspect of the instructional design process, including needs analysis, curriculum design, development, implementation, and comprehensive four-level evaluation.  Mrs. Michael earned a Master of Education degree from Loyola College of Maryland and is an active member of the American Society for Training and Development.  Mrs. Michael began her career as an instructor, providing her with first-hand knowledge and practice of curriculum implementation and delivery, evaluation, classroom management, and group presentation skills. She mentored junior instructors and contributed to professional evaluations, ensuring instructor quality within the department.  Mrs. Michael’s superior teaching skills were recognized and she was invited to collaborate with curriculum writers at the Board of Education, producing objective-driven training for a variety of learners.   She has designed and developed learning solutions ranging from online help and manuals for new software applications to blended learning solutions to satisfy the needs of learners new to a specific work role.  She has extensive design experience with both synchronous and asynchronous learning and can provide full lifecycle training development.  Currently, Mrs. Michael is supporting the Department of Defense’s Associate Directorate for Education and Training, providing various learning solutions designed to improve the quality of instruction and curricula across the enterprise affecting Department of Defense employees worldwide.
